Throughout the Bible God has instructed His people to watch out for and to protect the vulnerable, the widows, the orphans, the poor, etc. In 1Timothy 5 Paul instructs Timothy that families, the church, and believers are responsible to watch out for and meet the needs of widows (and by implication, others) who have no one else to help them.
